Star Prairie Land Preservation Trust – August 6th,
2007 Annual Meeting
Minutes
Star Prairie Town Hall
The Annual Meeting of the SPLPT was called to
order at 7:10 pm by President Beth
Wood following the regularly scheduled August Board Meeting.
Board members present were Beth Wood, Pete
Kling, Mike Reiter, Stuart Nelson, Trish Moberg, Ron Siler and Jack Hayes.
Guests included Cedar Lake
residents Marcus and Eleanor McEllistrem and Don Demulling. Introductions were
made around the table.
The Secretary and
Treasurer’s reports were approved. A copy of our 2006 filed tax return was
circulated.
Stu gave a brief
report on some of the accomplishments that the SPLPT has made over the last
year including South Cedar Bay Landing, the Boche and Sessions property.
- Stu and Beth, serving as the nominating committee,
commented that the three year terms of Chris Polfus, Beth Wood and Mike
Reiter were up. All three had agreed to run again. With no further
nominations from the floor, Chris, Beth and Mike were elected to another
three year term.
- Pete
provided a handout of the SPLPT’s Land Protection Strategy draft
proposal. After discussion and
review, Pete agreed to bring the final draft forward to the next scheduled
regular meeting for approval.
- Formal
dedication of the South Cedar Bay Landing is scheduled for Monday, October
8th, starting tentatively at 4:30 pm. Partners will be notified of
this event. Other dedications will also be planned for some of the other
properties.
- Stu
provided a handout and information concerning the upcoming Annual River
Island Park Party. The party this year has been expanded again with a
“Senior’s Afternoon” and is to be held Tuesday, August 14th. It
is a family event and kids activities also
scheduled. It gets bigger and better each year.
- Pete
made comments on transfer of development rights and what is happening in
the various townships including Stanton
Township. Townships add
another layer of government that needs to be addressed in easement
negotiations. Marcus and Eleanor McEllistrem added valuable insight into
some of the operations in other states. Working with Community Education,
a potential class on easement and opportunities could be set up to get
this important information into the hands of those that need it the most.
- Scheduling
of upcoming regular board meetings was addressed. The first Monday of
every other month was decided upon with meetings scheduled for October 1st
and December 3rd starting at 7
pm to fill out 2007. Location will be the Star
Prairie Town Hall.
With no further business the annual meeting was adjourned at
8:05 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mike Reiter - Acting Recorder
