Star Prairie Land Preservation Trust – June 25th, 2009 Meeting Minutes

Menke Cabin – McMurtrie Preserve

 

     An abbreviated June Meeting of the SPLPT was called to order at 12:00 noon by President Beth Wood.  

     Board members present were Pete Kling, Mike Reiter, Mike Kelly, Stu Nelson, Beth Wood, Dan Davison, Trish Moberg and Consultant Cheryl Clemens. Valerie Hogan, President of Growth Strategies, Inc. was also in attendance.

 

Business:

  1. A motion was made and approved to accept the donation of two commercial parking lot lights from Ray Berry to be stored on the McMurtrie Preserve property until they can be installed.
  2. Notes of Appreciation will be sent to:
    1. Ray Berry for the lights donation
    2. Vickie Elkin of “Gathering Waters” for her involvement in the Schottler dedication on June 24th
    3. Bob Heise for his involvement in the Schottler dedication on June 24th.
  3. A motion was made and approved to keep the wording in the SPLPT’s Mission Statement as reflected in our brochure and on the website as: “To preserve environmentally sensitive land and to promote rural character while protecting water quality and wildlife habitat for future generations.”
  4. Expansion of the SPLPT’s Board of Directors was discussed with Paul Schottler identified as a possible candidate. Paul will be invited to our July meeting. Board Members are asked to possible identify other qualified candidates for consideration.
  5. Future meeting dates will be:
    1. July annual meeting on Monday, July 27th starting at 7 pm with the second strategy meeting to be held prior to that meeting and starting at 5 pm. The meetings will be held at the Menke Cabin.
    2. The third strategy meeting will tentatively convene on August 10th in a location in New Richmond pending approval of other board members.

 

      The majority of the remaining time was taken up with the formal presentation of Valerie Hogan progressing through Strategic Planning. Proceedings of the results of this planning session will be reflected in Valerie’s reports.    

 

With no further business the session was adjourned at 4:15 pm.
